Celebrating its 23rd year on WRSU, "The Israel Hour," the only Israel-related
radio program in New Jersey and much of the surrounding area, plays contemporary
Israeli (MOR, pop, rock, folk, etc.) music. Some of our recent
playlists
are available on-line!
A newscast (in English) at 1:30PM written by "The Israel Hour" staff, features news from an Israeli perspective, based on sources including Arutz 7, Channel 7 Radio in Israel. The only news cast of its kind in the area, it is now also available on the Internet at The Israel Hour News Online, or via e-mail to interested parties (to subscribe, send e-mail to IsraelHr@aol.com).
Public Service Announcements at 1:45 PM alert listeners to events related to Israel and Israeli culture. (Announcements submitted to the show should be typed, double-spaced, limited to 30-seconds reading time, and sent to arrive at least one month in advance of the event.)
Features include special shows for Israel Independence Day, Jerusalem Liberation Day, and other Israel-related holidays and observances, as well as special presentations from Kol Israel and interviews with Israeli musical and political personalities.
"The Israel Hour" occasionally carries special presentations from Kol Israel, the Voice of Israel Radio, especially from their "Sounds of Israel" musical series, as well as programming from the Israel Broadcasting Service and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
Interviewees have included popular Israeli singers David Broza, David (Dudu) Fisher, Achinoam Nini (Noa), Ofra Haza, Rami Kleinstein, Chava Alberstein, Ben Artzi, Aric Sinai, and Nurit Galron, as well as current Israeli Infrastructure Minister Ariel Sharon. Suggestions for interviews, or contacts about inteviewing musical or political personalities, are welcome!
